Summary / Abstract (Note)This research work tries to examine the irrigation development and cropping pattern in the state of Haryana from 1980-83 to 2010-13. The work reveals that the agriculture of the state was totally based on canal and tube-well irrigation. The irrigated area of Haryana has increased from his statehood. It has been observed that canal irrigated area has decreased during study period. This is due to the inefficient and very odd timings of release of canal water. In this process, the cropping pattern of the state has changed from highly diversified to fairly specialized, which denotes economic and agricultural success. newline
