Summary / Abstract (Note) | Development psychologists have stated adolescents is a time when young people needs to have knowledge, attitude and life skills to become sexually healthy. The major objective of the present research was to study the effect of treatment of HIV/AIDS prevention education program on knowledge, attitude and life skills of adolescents. This experimental study employed a pre-test and post-test control group experimental design. 240 students were randomly selected from six schools out of which three were government and three were private high schools of Chandigarh, in the age groups of 16-18 years. Intervention strategies were administered in a high school setting. The experimental groups were dealt by the researcher for 30 sessions of 60-120 minutes each for three month and no treatment was provided to the control groups. The tools were administered to the students of experimental and control groups after the completion of intervention programme to see the effect of the HIV/AIDS prevention education on the variables under study. HIV/AIDS prevention education program as an interventional treatment are effective and beneficial in improving knowledge, attitude and life skills of adolescents. The subjects in the experimental groups gained significantly from the pre-test to post-test. |
